Blog Update after Event
Hey Guys!Monday the 27th of June
Haven't blogged in awhile, but here is the update.
Last week Thursday was our event, we got about just over 80 people came in. Which is a bit off from 100 people mark.
The People I experienced during the event was happy with the event and some were surprised by it. There was on mother that was surprised that I was the only on the describe what the star does and what we are going to be doing here today.
As for the animation/video for the star, here it is. People that didn't even came to the event was able to watch this on YouTube and I got some very positive feedback from it. Nice work Dan and myself.
Am waiting till class to get final feedback from the attendees.
From Debrief Whiteboard: Put together by Courtney
As part of our event we had guests fill out an exit survey that included a five star rating of each star group, a section for their impression of the service, and a section to comment on how to improve the event. We ended up with 28 returned surveys meaning that out of 80 guests, meaning a total of 35% of guests filled out the survey. However only 9 surveys used the star rating system and many missed the rating for Waipunarangi (Help desk) on the other side and some groups were skipped in the rating. I will assume that this is due to the guest not participating in that activity and will therefore not include them in the average. Due to this the rating system isn’t very reliable due to a small sample size.
Each table star ratings average (incl graph)
Tupuānuku (Potato Stamps) - average of 4 stars
Tupuārangi (Paper birds)- average of 4.2 stars
Matariki (Mindful notes)- average of 4.4 stars
Waitī (Colouring)- average of 4.6 stars
Hiwa-I-Te-Rangi (Seed Planting)- average of 4.1 stars
Waitā (Fishing)- average of 4.2 stars
Ururangi (Kites)- average of 4.4 stars
Pōhutukawa (Lanterns)- average of 4.7 stars
Waipuna-ā-Rangi (Help Desk)- average of 5 stars (However this is skewed as only 2 surveys included a rating)
Overall the average rating was 4.4, an extremely positive rating. The most enjoyed events were Pōhutukawa (Lanterns), and Waitī (Colouring), while the least enjoyed were Tupuānuku (Potato Stamps), and Hiwa-I-Te-Rangi (Seed Planting), however there was only .7 of a difference in the highest and lowest ratings. The top results were interesting as we also had a couple guests mention that their favorite had been the kite making activity (Ururangi).
General feedback
While we had two separate comment sections, most guests just used them for the same types of feedback, so I will discuss both together. The majority of the feedback was extremely positive, mostly just saying that it was good or that they enjoyed the event. Some of the positive notes was that everyone was very kind, friendly, and helpful. We had many people mention that the event felt very welcoming, and we had a couple people mention the great location. A couple people enjoyed the interesting range of activities and felt that they were meaningful and connected well to Matariki. Many guests said that they liked the complimentary bags, and the informative brochure.
We had a lot of people say that they enjoyed the videos. A couple guests mentioned that they would have liked it if we had made it more obvious that it was the students running the event who made the videos, and one guest said they would like to see the videos up on Youtube or another platform.
As for feedback on where to improve, a big one was the request to advertise more, or to try and go bigger if we run the event again. One guest also recommended that we advertise to the schools. I have already spoken on why we chose to advertise less above.
We also had several guests recommend we collaborate with other local Matariki events, and run over the weekend in conjunction with them. While that is a great idea for the future, it may be difficult due to the fact that the event is run by students with varying schedules, and that we only ran one day due to our budget. However it is also a great idea to try and work alongside other events more in the future to help work closer with the community.
Some other feedback was that the kids be more hands on in the seed planting, to make a smoother transition between areas, maybe make the location warmer, to make a separate area to watch the animations as they were too loud when doing the activities, that some of the students could have spoken up a bit more, and to add some background music.
For me to do by Friday!
Asked feedback from tutors, from peer feedback. Here is what I got and will need to improve from next time.
