Research into Previous exhibitions

Riversdale Arts:

Top view of the Exhibition - Could be useful for our location as we have open area for exhibition. Also have area for people over look the exhibition.

Artworks are placed on temporary walls with booklets with information of artworks. Numbers are put beside the works.

Miniature stall for locals to sell product and a pop up cafe.

Riversdale Arts run an annually (shown mid July) exhibition for New Zealand artist to showcase artworks. This exhibition is a 10 day exhibition, usually on a Sunday. Most of the artworks are all local/Southern and Otago artist, with invited artist throughout New Zealand.

These exhibition include:

• an open night, with awards for emerging artist (people under the age of 25 and are Southland residents), with scholarships or $1000 as awards
• workshops/art classes of well known guest artists that are showing there works in exhibitions, classes are cost ticketed. (usually on Wednesday)
• an area of purchase smaller items and artworks in the exhibition
• Pop up cafe at the exhibition
• All school are invited to the exhibition, generally before the exhibition is showed to public

More than 500 artworks of wide variety of mediums from over 80 artist enter annually.

What I thought about the Exhibition 2019:

There was a lot of artworks that I was amazed to how they format the area, they had one area for the emerging artist (under 25s). All artworks were for sell, and it was a warm welcoming event. There were areas for people to sit, and glass cases for 3D sculptures.

The only issue I had was the location and how long it took to get out there and the night was late for the open night. Also with the piece of art I entered I wished I had feedback from the judge, but I was afraid to ask. I did sell my artwork and the person did give me feedback, but it was third hand. (Ie my mother knew the wife of the man that purchased it and gave me feedback through that).
